What City Farm Boy is About

City Farm Boy is about promoting urban agriculture, urban farming.
We as a society could be producing significantly more food in our cities.
Veggies that has been picked only minutes prior to consumption are more nutritious and tasty than the veggies that are offered in the major grocery stores.
Big Store veggies have generally been shipped a long way and stored for weeks.
Big Store vegetable varieties/cultivars are choosen for their shipping and storage characteristics, not their flavour and nutrients characteristics.
Millions of pounds of food are trucked into our large cities every day.
All those trucks pounding down the highway, spewing greenhouse gases along the way, causing wear and tear on our roads, and contributing to the ever increasing noise pollution of our city scapes.
Grow Your Own! You may not be able to grow enough to be self-sufficient, but every tomato, every carrot or head of lettuce, means one less veggies to truck from far off lands.
This is what City Farm Boy is about. Changing the way we care for our lands. Getting back into touch with the soil. Appreciating the smaller things in life, like a little tomato plant, can reduce stress, and help to reduce our footprint on this tiny planet called earth.
